Notes from Master Wang Xiang Zhai:
"The standing exercise represents a very special accumulation of
knowledge in China. But in the past there were very few people who paid
attention to it because most people thought it was too simple. They
wondered how, by sitting or standing in a single posture without moving,
can you improve health? When people wonder this, it is because they do
not really understand the essence of standing. In reality, in
practicing the exercise of standing without moving, we can not only
increase physical strength, but also awaken healing processes within the
body, allowing the body to cure itself of all kinds of chronic diseases
it might have accumulated during a lifetime. Therefore, in
preventative medicine, standing exercises have great value. In fact, it
is on of the most appropriate ways of exercising."

Wing Chun Illustrated Issue 5: Yik Kam Wing Chun

"Some of the most important aspects of Sifu Yik Kam are dynamics, force, ranges, and angles. Full integration of the Snake Body engine is essential during all practice, as it is the uniqueness of our art, and when combined with our boxing skills, restuls in what is known as Wing Chun's famed Shock Force."

Re: The Root of Yang Sheng Qigong
Hello again,
There are many ways to affect ones energy level! Our art is called: Yiquan (mind boxing) as the Mind is the key aspect for regulating ones physical well being. Since our method of cultivation is based on Mind cultivation, we need to understand the benefits of Non-Attachment. An active mind will cause all sorts of issues. Examples:
Anger makes energy rise
Worry makes energy low
Over-thinking makes the energy knot
Grief makes energy vanish
Fear makes energy descend
Shock disorients the energy
etc..
In Yiquan Qigong we follow the maxim of: Use silence to lead action. Non-attachment is the road to silence, and it is being mindful of the posture, relaxation and breathing that is essential as they are our "loose guidelines" to keep us developing. Awareness of these three elements will gradually change the frequency from chaotic to calm. A calm mind, body and breath will give birth to vitality & energy!

Many people wonder why Standing Qigong is so effective for healing, strengthening and uniting the mind & body. Luckily we no longer live in a time period where this information is only reserved for inner transmission between a teacher and student. Below you will find some information as to why Qigong is the real deal!
***
When properly practiced, Qigong activates the parasympathetic circuit of the central nervous system, thereby stimulating the production of neurochemicals which cause the endocrine system to secrete hormones that enhance vitality and boost immunity. Those hormones also help sustain further production of calming parasympathetic neurochemicals. This mutual interaction continues until perfect equilibrium is established between the nervous and endocrine systems, and when that happens, the True Energy of human health and longevity is generated!
