Introduction to Friction Step (Mocabu)

The Summer term has officially begun and workouts will continue every Monday from 7-8pm in Kresge Auditorium, Rehearsal Room A (down the stairs and to the right). As always, MIT Qigong is FREE!!

Last night, Coach Jim Roselando introduced us to the Yiquan Friction Step or Mocabu. Wang Xuanjie, student of the late Grandmaster Wang Xiangzhai, writes of the mocabu:

With the body erect and head upright,
He walks like a chicken but with the torso a bit inclined.
Advance or retreat at will as the hip and shoulder move,
Waves rise and fall as the knee leaps and the foot circles.

Below is a demonstration of the Friction Step by Yao Zongxun, successor of WXZ
